Ultimate can be learned and played using just 10 simple rules. At RIC3 Fam Frisbee, our games are guided by these core rules alongside official USA Ultimate regulations.

10 Simple Rules of Ultimate The Field and Teams: Play is 7-on-7 on a rectangular field that measures 110 yards long (including two 20-yard end zones) and 40 yards wide. Starting Play (The Pull): Every point begins with both teams lined up along their respective end zone lines. The defense throws ("pulls") the disc to the offense to initiate play. Scoring: A team scores 1 point each time a offensive player catches a legal pass inside the opposing end zone. Advancing the Disc: The disc may be passed in any direction to any teammate. Players cannot run while holding the disc and must establish a pivot foot upon making a catch. The Stall Count: A defender (the "marker") standing within 10 feet of the thrower counts out the stall seconds. The thrower has 10 seconds (7 seconds in some indoor/beach variants) to release a pass. Turnovers: Possession immediately switches to the other team if a pass is incomplete, caught out of bounds, dropped, intercepted, knocked down, or if the stall count expires. No Physical Contact: Ultimate is a non-contact sport. Physical contact that affects a play is considered a foul. Self-Officiating: There are no referees in standard play. Players call their own fouls, travels, and line violations. If players disagree on a call, the disc returns to the last thrower ("contest"). Substitutions: Teams may substitute players only after a point is scored or during an injury timeout. Spirit of the Game (SOTG): Competitive play is encouraged, but mutual respect, honest call-making, and sportsmanship are strictly prioritized at all levels of play.
